Energy Efficiency Centre

A reliable and affordable supply of energy is essential for economic development in Nepal. Assuming raising fossil fuel prices in the future the economic burden for the Nepalese economy will be even higher than today. Energy efficiency could play an important role to overcome theses challenges and contribute to a sustainable development in the country. Previous experiences have shown that there are huge saving potentials in both thermal as well as electrical energy. A more energy efficient Nepalese industry will be more productive and competitive on the international markets. Enhancing efficient use of energy will also slow down the growth of energy demand and, thus, reduce the investment costs in the generation sector.
The Energy Efficiency Centre (EEC) of Nepal is a non-profit initiative that aims to promote energy efficiency in Nepal. EcoThinking was involved to bring the various stakeholders from the private and public sector together to establish this Centre. EEC is focused on developing capacity and human resources in the field of energy efficiency through training and knowledge sharing. The centre will also provide professional energy efficiency services to the industrial community and act as a bridge between government and private sector in formulation of energy efficiency policies. Beside support organisational development EcoThinking was strongly involved in capacity building measures, trainings and seminars and gave technical support during the starting phase. Furthermore, we supported the EEC in developing a comprehensive knowledge management system. Today EEC is a successful running self-sustaining centre that provide energy auditing, energy efficiency training and supports the Government of Nepal to promote energy efficiency in the country.
